Hevehitta & DJ Unexpected - Ghostface Killah & DJ Premier - Duel Of The Iron Fists

Now this is what the fuck I'm talkin bout... you do a blend tape, do it like this...

Hevehitta and DJ Unexpected continue their Martial Arts Mixtapes series with this installment dedicated to pairing Ghostdeini's vocals with Premo's beats and sprinkling in some kung fu flick lifts and beat break goodies here and there.. All in all a highly entertaining tape...

Single: Action Bronson - Nothing To Worry About

Hot damn.. brand new Bronson and yet again the lyrical foodie from Flushing bodies 16 bars intensely.

The track utilized is Peter Bjorn and John's "Nothing To Worry About", from their 2009 album Living Thing Out...

Yo, not to take away from this track, but if you've never seen the video for that track, yo, do look at for a minute, wild ish'..

Single: Stik Figa - Never Heard Of Em'

It's joints like this that made me a fan of Stik Figa..

The emcee from a "small Kansas town in the county of Shawnee" displays a heaping dose of his wittiness on this new cut as well as his knack for sounding completely at home over any type of production, including this one, that takes a harder line than some of his usual selections..

Video: Fresh Daily - The Brooklyn Good Guy Promo

Ha! Dope lil' promo from Fresh Daily, a cat whose debut from 3 years or so back, "The Gorgeous Killer: In Crimes Of Passion" continues to be just criminally slept-on by too many heads...

Fresh ain't sweatin it though, he's readying the next project, which you should be pretty hype for after peeping the above promo..

Single: Blacastan ft. V-Zilla - Concrete

"The Saga continues, hustlin to achieve"

This man Blacastan blasts off another new leak off his upcoming "Master Builder II" double CD project...

Video: DJ Format ft. Edan - Spaceship Earth

Been a lil' bit since I've heard Edan straight rip down a joint... DJ Format went ahead and helped me out by bringin this man Edan back out for "Spaceship Earth", a bangin cut off Format's "Statement Of Intent" LP that dropped Today...

Directed by Tim Crawley..

Video: Krate Krusaders ft. Dr. Syntax - On The Rise

One of my favorite UK emcees here... Dr. Syntax, shows you exactly why you've been spleeping on his considerable talent as he gets the visual treatment for the joint he did with the equally dope countrymen, the Krate Krusaders off their latest LP "When The Needle Drops"

"On The Rise" indeed man...

Single: Mr. J. Medeiros - Pale Blue Dot (prod. by Stro Elliot)

That's right, we've got a mini Procussions reunion as Mr. J. Medeiros links with production wiz kid, Stro...

I mean, what can I say about music like this? It's just all too great man... Medeiros has really started to get crafty in the ways he melds genre's together...

The Find Magazine is very excited to present its very first vinyl release. It's a limited edition 7” vinyl single for “Pale Blue Dot”, a brand new song from Mr. J. Medeiros produced by Stro Elliot (both formerly of The Procussions). Single: Gorillaz ft. Andre 3000 - DoYaThing

I guess Converse's foray into the music game continues.... saw this comin when they started supplying rappers w/ gear heavy a couple years ago when they re-released the Weapons...

Sorry, that was a bit of sneakerhead shit there at the end... In any case, I know everyone here won't be a Gorillaz fan, however I will say if you aren't, shame shame...

Trust their new joint with Andre 3000 is definitely somethin' that will get you movin' as the more eccentric half of Outkast displays his true and very mighty lyrical prowess, fresh off of saying we shouldn't hold our collectives breathes for a new Outkast LP anytime soon...

Gorillaz ft. Andre 3000 - DoYaThing

Prince Ali - SP1200 EP

Only a true student of the game can instantly tell when he hears that distinguished 12 bit crunch that only the SP-1200 can make.. It's a sampling drum machine that to me, defined a whole era, and continues to define what's best about this culture...

Fitting then that Prince Ali has gone ahead and re-released some of his best SP-produced cuts on a new EP that you can swoop for free...

New 10 track EP titled "SP1200" by Toronto's P.A. (Prince Ali). Featuring appearances from Oddisee, Kev Brown, Emilio Rojas and more. A little best of EP remastered and mixed with a crystal clear sound. The EP is stricly SP1200 heavy beats with some soulful exceptions.

Single: M-Phazes - James Blake Never Learnt To Make Drums Smack Like This

Aussie producer extraordinaire M-Phazes gives English Electro music producer James Blake's "I Never Learnt To Share"  new life and reworks the subdued tune into a Hip-Hop gem that I'm hoping some un-assuming emcee out there gets ahold of...

Single: Georgia Anne Muldrow - Husfriend (prod. by Madlib)

Single: Iron Solomon - Breathe

"I need a moment to breathe"

Mostly-reformed battle rap act Iron Solomon hits us with a new track before he drops his long awaited "Monster" album and I gotta say, when it comes to rhyming about one's come up through the rap game, Solomon does his thing well here... very well... Shows off some of his production chops as he co-produced this with Isaiah.

"Monster" drops March 27th...

Single: Gensu Dean ft. Roc Marciano - Yen

One more week til' Mello Music Group drops yet another sterling gem on us, this time they play host label to none other than Dallas-based producer Gensu Dean's "Lo-Fi Fingahz"..

Crafted with the sterling 12-bit sound of the SP-1200, the release will surely not disappoint... As proof, we get another new single off the LP, this one featuring the hardcore stylings of Roc Marciano...

Single: Madlib Remix: DOOM vs. Jadakiss

Lib' returns with a new remix that's off the upcoming 2nd volume of his Madlib Medicine Show Remixes, "#13: The Black Tape" ...

The 60 minute, 35 track release is set to drop on March 1st finally, after enduring a bit of, how should I put this, complications related to the artwork? Read below to get the full skinny from the Stones Throw site..

Months ago when we dropped a hint that one more Madlib Medicine Show was to come, little did we know that the Madlib Invazion label would find itself dealing with the problem of one printing press after the next refusing to run the artwork. Some who have seen this artwork describe it as "mutant porn." Others simply shake their heads, set it down, wash their hands. Now that an offshore press specializing in "fringe adult publications" has taken the job, the 'secret Medicine Show' will finally be released on March 1st.

Single: Ryshon Jones - Pulp Fiction

Philly product Ryshon Jones is gearing up to drop "Po Diss Head"; a new mixtape that will find him going in over select instrumentals from the band Portishead (lol, get the title now?)

The first leak off the tape is "Pulp Fiction", a moody, wordy and cryptic lil' tune that I know you'll dig while you takin swigs, if you follow what I mean...

Video: Cormega Introduces M.A.R.S (Mega, Action Bronson, Roc Marciano & Saigon)

Holy shitballs!!! Man... people talk about super collabos, super groups and the like, but guess what, 9 times outta ten the shit they speakin about isn't really that..not at all.

Here's a moment when it absole-fucking-lutely is... Man, I guess this M.A.R.S. shit might just be for a single (which is produced by Large Pro BTW) but yo...How ill would it be if this was to become an actual group?

They'd easily be the best in the game hands down and I could go to Slaughterhouse fanboys and talk shit on 10...

Here's hoping ALL that comes to fruition.. for now however, we wait for the single...

Single: Quelle Chris - The Chains

"everything gonna be good again after we die"

How the fuck I miss this when it dropped like 2 weeks ago? I need to pump the brakes and so do you, new Quelle Chris on deck...

The young Motor City upstart goes in over another brilliant production that features a sample of Fleetwood Mac's "The Chain" and a rousing Amiri Baraka poem titled "Dope"...

Can't help but to say it, so here...more of these new jacks out here need to be doing shit like this...Quelle Chris pushin creativity while maintaining some of the old standards and it works..you others just follow..This music got heart, a real ass message abt the struggle and much soul.. get wit it or get left..

Single: DJ Premier ft. Apathy, Nas & The Berklee Symphony Orchestra (Re:Generation Remix)

Strikingly good remix of the Re:Generation thing that Nas, Ap and Premo did with the Berklee Symphony Orchestra awhile back...

This version is produced by Apathy and like I been tryin to tell heads forever, that man Ap has beats... majorly..

DJ Premier ft. Apathy, Nas & The Berklee Symphony Orchestra (Re:Generation Remix)

Single: JJ DOOM (Jneiro Jarel & DOOM) - Banished

Producer Janeiro Jarel is blessed... in many ways. First, man makes some awesomely mish mashed, funked out music, second, he's just landed the opportunity that every wonky aughties producer dreams of in getting a chance to collab with none other than MF Doom or DOOM (as of late)..

The two have announced a new record called "Keys To The Kuffs", that will be dropped on Lex Records hopefully sometime in May... we all know how DOOM can be with the release dates.. (where's that GhostDoom record again?)

Til then we have "Banished", which IMO perfectly melds the two styles of each artist.. a true collaboration...

Stream only kids... if you wanna own it you'll have to break out your software wizardry and record the audio or something...

Single: Quakers ft. Guilty Simpson & M.E.D. - Fitta Happier

Okay, so one of the albums/projects that is sure to get folks talkn this year is Portishead's Geoff Barrow's upcoming "Quakers"...

The much-lauded producer set out with his fellow Portishead bandmate, 7Stu7 (the band's engineer) and Katalyst; one of Australia's best beatmaker's  (together the collective is known as Quakers) and worked with 30 some emcees for the project and this is the first label sanctioned peek at what I'm sure will be a monster of a record..

Over some boisterous horns, Barrow, who also took the name Fuzzface as his production handle, gets up with L.A.'s own M.E.D. and The D's Guilty Simpson for a hardcore exhibit of his ability within the Hip-Hop realm.. I must say.. I'm impressed.. Maybe more experimental, down tempo, English band members need to start messing w/ Hip-Hop..

The 41-track double LP "Quakers" touches down on March 27th mayne... get in line...

Single: Sage Francis - Lost Loves (Xaul Zan Vs. Lil Sage)

Who's down with Sage Francis? PHH that's who.. peep out his latest joint, that really, the concept of, I don't think I've ever heard about being done before.. he records new verses over 20 year old ones... peep the full story below:

“Lost Loves” is a song that literally took 20 years to complete. The first half was recording in 1991 and the other half was recorded in 2011. Thanks to Sage Francis being a pack-rat since an early age, he is now able to trade bars with his younger self. Finalizing this song involved salvaging a 20 year old recording from a 2nd generation cassette dub, filling in the blank lines, and twisting what was originally a tale of unrequited love into a bizarre story about a man who thinks it’s appropriate to woo his lady with battle raps.
To top it all off, this is the long-awaited return of Sage’s nasty alter-ego, Xaul Zan…so don’t expect anything sweet. “It’s got to do with lots of lovin’ and it ain’t nuthin’ nice.” Many thanks to Pat Jenses for the artwork!

Single: Dice Raw - Bloody Mary (prod. by Statik Selektah)

This is the kind of Valentines Day-inspired track I can mess with man...

Ya man Dice Raw takes apart a wonderfully produced (you hear those drums man?) Statik Selektah track in story telling fashion...

Single: Lushlife - The Big Sur

Whenever Lushlife drop somethin' brand new You can bet I'm there to catch it...

"The Big Sur" is his initial single off his new album "Plateau Vision", that's set to be released on April 17th on Western Vinyl...

This string-filled, and masterfully produced banger is just how I like to get my Tuesday's going...

Here's a track description that puts mine to shame tho:

“Big Sur” features some lush, psychedelic production from Botany that recalls Edan’s best tracks, as well as fellow Philly natives, the Roots, at their loosest. On the vocals, Lushlife spits hard again, referencing one of rap’s best one-off tracks ever, Smoothe da Hustler and Trigger tha Gambler’s “Broken Language”

Single: Tito Lopez - The Wire (Venting Session # 2)

You heard of that Tito Lopez kid outta Mississippi right? No? Yeah? Whatever the fucking case, he's got the 2nd installment of his "Venting Sessions" out and whoo! If ya don't know, now ya do.

Most folks prolly wrote homie off as "just that kid that Dre flicked it up with for some reason", but it seems that the Doc's ear is still very capable at hearing real talent first and Tito is truly a name to watch...

Single: Killer Mike ft. Bun B, T.I. & Trouble - Big Beast (prod. by El-P)

Okay, ignore the fact that T.I. is on this and think for a moment about how ill the fact that Killer Mike and Bun B is rhyming over a friggin' El-P track... done thinking? Okay, now download this wild ass shit...

...oh and BTW, I don't even mean to slander Tip like that, he's okay in small doses I guess.. lol, to be truthful though, he held his own on this one...Trouble kid did well too, but come on, the story here is Mike's verse.. insane..and surprisingly cohesive with El-P's frenzied, Skonk-rap production style.

"R.A.P." is comin and it's gonna be a "Big Beast", unquestionably... prepare for an album's worth of insane shit like this as El-P and Mike have teamed for a whole project...

Video: Willie Evans Jr. - Nerd English

The Bodega Brovas ft. Von Pea - The 4080 Rule Part 2

"Took my love, but you can't take my pride"

NJ emcee Jane Nithrow will be the only woman whose Valentines Day story gets told on PHH today..

lol, I know this day sucks pretty well enough for most of us as is, Jane takes some of the edge off with a story of love, and love lost... ATL Songstress Sharvon as well as Jane's group mate and Beantown native King Spyda are along for the ride as well...

Lil' bit of a lighter flavor here... what can I say it's Valentines Day.. stop complainin', turn around and take ten paces..

R.I.P. Whitney Houston (August 9, 1963 – February 11, 2012)

You've already heard about this sad circumstance from everywhere..

Wish it wasn't truly so.. but, yes, in fact it is...We'll miss her...

I decided long ago never to walk in anyone's shadow; if I fail, or if I succeed at least I did as I believe. -Whitney Houston

Video/Interview: Oddisee For Out Da Box TV

Anytime Oddisee sits down to speak with the masses about anything you  know PHH damn near automatically throws it up... He along with Damu The Fudgemunk are the two most prolific producers in the game right now and they're bringing the DMV out in a major way...Majorly..

Here Oddisee kicks some wisdom to Out Da Box TV about a number of things...listen up, you may could learn a thing or two..

We got a chance to sit with Oddisee recently at his NY home, and he shared some truly interesting information about his outlook on life and music career. In this episode, which is the 1st of a 2 part series, Oddisee speaks on a number of topics including how he got his start in music, being a leader in the D.C./DMV music scene, What he strives to achieve with each rhyme, and what matters to him most in his life. He even gives some interesting insight on ways we can make progress despite the current state of our economy.

Single: J Dilla ft. Danny Brown - Dilla Bot Vs. The Hybrid (Alternate Version)

A bit of an unreleased track right here....

2009's "Jay Stay Paid" was one of my fav. Dilla albums ever even though it was put out posthumously.. So you know I was giddy to see that there was an alternate, unreleased demo take of the "Dilla Bot Vs. The Hybrid" track, with different Danny Brown vocals...

Single: Anthony Cruz - Puerto Rican Girlfriends (Maroon Cafe Freestyle)
